hunger and cravings getting loud again?

The Bari-IQ Method gives you a practical framework for responding to hunger, cravings and food noise - so food can take up less of your time, energy and headspace, leaving more room for the things that matter to you.

One of the most common challenges after bariatric surgery is navigating the return of hunger, cravings, and
food noise.

It can feel unsettling - but it doesn't mean you've undone your progress or done anything wrong. With the right tools, you can understand where your hunger is coming from and respond with confidence.

The Bari-IQ Method is a self-paced online course created and presented by Professional Coach, Lorraine Hamilton, and Registered Nutritionist, Nicole Freebairn, designed for bariatric patients who are at least one year post-op.

Bariatric surgery changes the way your body processes food,
but it doesn't automatically change the way you think about food.

You can have a smaller stomach, different hunger signals and new physical experiences around eating, and still find yourself dealing with cravings, food noise and thoughts about food that take up far more space than you'd like.

That's because hunger doesn’t have one single origin. It's driven by your physical needs, your emotions, and your habits and environment - often a combination of these factors at once. When you can tease these apart, you stop fighting yourself and start responding to what's actually going on.

The return of hunger after bariatric surgery is normal, healthy and expected. It is biology, not a personal failing. Your body is doing exactly what it's designed to do. The goal isn’t to remove hunger and cravings entirely, but to ease the mental capacity they’re taking up and give you the tools to respond.

This is for you if:

  • You're at least 1 year post bariatric surgery (or past the initial weight loss phase)

  • You're experiencing food noise, hunger, cravings, or grazing

  • You want to understand your body and habits rather than fight against them

  • You're ready to get curious about your relationship with food instead of being ashamed of it

This may not be the right fit if:

  • You're less than 1 year post-op (your needs at this stage are different - speak with your clinical team)

  • You're seeking acute medical or mental health care - this course is education, not a substitute for individualised care

On a GLP-1 medication? The skills you'll build are relevant whether or not you're using medication. Any questions about the medication itself should go to your prescriber.

What you'll learn

The course is built around three interconnected drivers of eating: physical, habitual and emotional. Each of the modules contain short video lessons with PDF resources alongside to support your learning and help you with taking action.

Each lesson comes with additional written resources and clear action steps.

Why we built this course

- Andrea, Director, Tailor Clinics

We pride ourselves on providing our patients with excellent knowledge around the physical and nutritional side of bariatric surgery. But we know that knowing what to do and being able to do it consistently are two very different things - and there's a whole part of the journey that happens in your head.

We built the Bari-IQ Method to close that gap: to bring nutrition and mindset together, because we don't believe they should be treated as separate. We've delivered this work with patients on our retreats, and wanted to make these tools available to more people, wherever they are in their journey.
